The rules for Mission Ops are as follows:

  • Inside any campus building is a safe zone, with the exception of the Douglas Upper and Lower main lounges.

The game consists of players iteratively killing their targets while attempting to avoid their own assassins. The last player alive is the winner.

Killing

You can kill a person only by successfully hitting his body with water.

When going for your target, please try very hard to not actually hurt anyone or damage anyone’s possessions.

Protecting Yourself

Outside Assistance

No one is allowed to kill your target but yourself. Others may “take bullets” for you but they cannot actually kill anyone.

Allowable Weapons

  • Water bottles
  • Absolutely no water guns of ANY kind are allowed.

Safe Zones

Safe Zones are areas in which you cannot kill or be killed by anyone. If someone attempts to kill you in a safe zone, please inform him that you are in a safe zone and that their “kill” is invalid.

Safe Zones Include:

  • Inside any campus building. (both feet must be inside the building to be considered “safe”).
  • Fort Douglas Week Events
  • The RDs will announce when “safe” time has ended. A statuatory limit will be established following each event.
  • Chapel

Safe Zones Exclude:

  • Douglas Upper Lounge
  • Douglas Lower Lounge

Your Target

Your target is the person you are currently assigned to hit. When you hit your target, you will be assigned a new target. When the game begins, you will be sent an e-mail which contains your target’s information (name and email address). Once you have made your hit, you will then take the hit card of the person you just took out. Begin your search for your new target. You will be given a new target online within 12 hours of a valid reported kill.

Reporting Kills and Deaths

When you assassinate someone, you should report the kill as soon as possible to the game administrators via email. You will be given the option to include a detailed gruesome story about how the hit happened and what sequence of events led to it. The report will be posted on the status page of your game for all to enjoy!

Realistically, the victim has no real motivation to report his death. Therefore, if the assassain reports the hit before the victim has, the victim will be notified and will have 12 hours to dispute or confirm the kill. If the victim does not act within the allotted time, the game’s administrators will assume that he does not dispute the kill, and the victim will be noted as dead.

However, we strongly encourage all players to report their kills and deaths as soon as possible so that games can run smoothly.

Dying

When you die, your alias and user account will be publicly linked and everyone will be able to see who you actually were. If you die, we ask that you exit the game politely and with good sportsmanship; there will be many opportunities to play again.

Also, when you are hit, your assassin (the player targetting you) will be reassigned to target the player that you were targetting. The website can handle this process, but it requires intervention of the administrator.

Mission Cards

Before the beginning of the game you will receive your mission card. After the game has begun (Monday morning March 13 at MIDNIGHT) you may begin your targetting and planning. To speed up the game, we ask that you carry your mission card with you at all times, and give your mission card to your assassin when he kills you. By giving your mission card to your assassin, you are admitting that you do not contest the hit. You assassin’s next target is the player on your mission card, so he can hit that person as soon as he gets your mission card.

If, for any reason, you feel that your death is not valid (in accordance with the game rules), then you can keep your mission card. The administrators (Eric McIntosh and Mike Teeter) of the game make a ruling. If they find that your death was valid then your assassin can find out his new target on the website.
