Overview

In an assassins game, each player is assigned to target another player. The goal is to eliminate your target with a harmless weapon such as a sock or a spoon, in accordance with the game rules. A successful elimination requires you to locate/identify your target, eliminate your target, and report your elimination to the game host.

Locate Your Target

To eliminate your target, you have to find him or her in real life. In some games, you will be given your target's address of residence (in the target profile). If you're not so lucky, you must use other means. You could...

  • Consult phone books (online or printed, university or corporate).
  • Find posted lists of dormitory residents' names and phone numbers.
  • Ask your friends.
  • Deduce your target's weekly schedule.
  • Look up your target on Facebook.com.

Identify Your Target

Once you arrive at your target's location, you may need to identify her among several people. It helps to have a picture of your target! In fact, some games require all players to post a picture of themselves in their target profile (visible only to the person targeting them). To avoid eliminating an innocent bystander, most assassins ask their target, "Hi, are you John Doe?" before eliminating them.

Eliminate Your Target

After locating and identifying your target, you can eliminate him by simply touching him with a harmless weapon such as a sock or a spoon, in accordance with the game rules. Try to eliminate your target before he knows what is going on; otherwise, things can get messy! Your target could pull a weapon on you and score a defensive kill. Or your target might run and hide in a safe zone where no eliminations are allowed. Or you might even end up agreeing to a duel.

Report Your Elimination

Congratulations! Now that you have scored an elimination, it's time to report it to the game host so she can update the game status and give you your next target. You get to write a long, juicy report about your adventure. Make sure it's interesting, because it will be emailed to everyone in the game and be posted on the website for all to see. Your name will not be revealed to anyone, but the name of the player you eliminated will be revealed to the other players in the game.
